Leave from the church of Liessies to discover this path that goes around the departmental park of the abbey of Liessies. This path will satisfy both your desire for nature with its wet meadows, the Helpe, ponds and orchards, and your wish to discover the heritage of the region with the foothills of the Ardennes and why not visit the church of Saint-Jean. This route is perfectly adapted to family walks, the circuit can even be covered in a stroller.

Discovering the state forest of Val Joly, observe well around you, many fresh tracks of the animals of the forest will impress the children. You can also take the opportunity to visit the charming church of Liessies, built in the typical way of the region: in blue stones and bricks. During the hunting season, some parts of the state forest are closed to the public, but you can always take the shortest variant (4 km).

This circuit is divided into three loops, 4 km, 17 km and 21 km, to suit both experienced hikers and the more novice. It starts at the Val Joly Park house in Eppe-Sauvage. For the longer loops, take your picnic to have lunch in the beautiful Avesnois Regional Natural Park. Take binoculars and the booklet published by the Park to discover the birds so that you don't miss anything of this beautiful walk.

Here is a nice circuit to discover with your family. Of a great richness, it will lead you on the forest paths, the small bocage roads and the paths of edges of ponds. You will also appreciate the passages over the waterways and the viewpoints on the river and the town. It is now possible to visit again the historical site of the forges of Anor which have resumed their activities. Attention, the access to the undergrowth of Hirson is strictly forbidden.

In Sains-du-Nord, discover a circuit to be walked all year round through the bocage. However, the 13 km route is reserved for experienced walkers. You will appreciate the views of the Helpe Majeure. In rainy weather, bring waterproof shoes, especially in the tall grass of the bocage paths and when crossing streams. Back in Sains-du-Nord, visit the Maison du Bocage, which will show you all the rural know-how of the Avesnois.
