Read moreThe Maison du Transbordeur, also known as the Musée du Transbordeur, is an interpretation center located in Échillais, on the southern outskirts of Rochefort, in the Charente-Maritime region. The museum traces the history of the Pont Transbordeur du Martrou, a suspension bridge and ski lift that crossed the Charente between Rochefort and Échillais in the early 20th century. The museum features interactive exhibits and information on the engineer Ferdinand Arnodin, who designed the bridge. Visitors can discover the fascinating history of this unique bridge, and learn more about other Transporter Bridges around the world.
