Having twice lifted the Brennus Shield before the war (1935 and 1939), the BO gave birth to Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque in 1998 in order to adapt to the new professional world. The adaptation was a success for the club, which was French champion in 2002, 2005 and 2006, as well as European champion (Amlin Cup) in 2012. The club is in the Top 14 for the 2022 season and back in the Pro D2 for the 2023/2024 season.

After the 2020 season in the Top 14, the Aviron returned to the Pro D2 in 2021 and the Top 14 again in 2022.
