The airline operates several daily flights from Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle to Linate (9 km from the centre) and Malpensa (45 km from the centre) airports in both directions. The advantage of the lakes is that you can get around quickly! An efficient and picturesque ferry service that allows you to reach Monte Isola and all the towns on the lake. The cruise (about 2 hours) goes all around: departure from Iseo, Lovere, Sarnico, Sultano, Sale Maresino, Marone. There are also night cruises with fireworks on New Year's Eve and August 15. This is an opportunity to visit the lake in a different way and to have a different view of the villages. Take the opportunity to admire the few gardens that overlook the lake!

This airport, located 5 km from Bergamo and 45 km from Milan, has been chosen as a place of arrival and departure by some low cost airlines.

Orio Shuttle - Airpullman. Shuttle service between Milan Central Station and the airport. Departure from the bus parking lot on the right side of Piazza Luigi di Savoia station. From 4 am to 11.30 pm, 60 minute ride. One way €5; Return €10.

The Bergamo public transport company manages the network of urban lines, useful especially for getting around the lower city. Line n° 1 connects the centre to the railway station and the airport (every 20 minutes).

Funicular railway. The ATB also manages the two funiculars that connect the lower town to the upper town. The first runs from Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, the second joins the San Vigilio hill to the south of the city. Installed in 1887, it is the first one that you can take alternatively by bus to reach the historic heart of the city.

A private company that is an alternative to the services of Navigazione Lago d'Orta, to connect the island of San Giulio from Orta with beautiful boats. The company has been in existence since 1923 and allows the lake to be used every day of the year, thanks to its eight boats. But the company is also available for special excursions on request, and of course the rental or privatization of a boat for special events.

The boat is the best way to enjoy the lake and its landscapes but also, from Orta San Giulio, to reach the west coast, in particular Pella, San Filiberto and Lagna (with a stopover on the island of San Giulio) or the extreme north of the lake (Orta - Omegna). From April to September, about ten crossings a day make a loop serving these destinations, but only on Sundays in March and October, and none in winter. This local company has a fleet of three boats that can carry 70, 107 and 295 passengers respectively.

The lake connections from Arona to Switzerland allow you to discover the beauty of the lake. It is easy to organize your own itinerary to explore the main points of interest: the Rocca d'Angera, the Sanctuary of Santa Caterina del Sasso, the Borromeo Islands, the gardens of Villa Taranto, Villa Pallavicino and Locano. Embarking on a boat with a large number of open-air seats allows you to admire the landscape. The fleet is vast, you only have to choose: modern boats, hydrofoils, catamarans and period ships criss-cross the lake.

Lombardy's main railway hub, the station is just a few metro stops from the historic center. It is widely recognized for its history and architecture: the grandiose mass of the central station (207 meters long) was solemnly inaugurated on May 15, 1931. A triumph of Mussolinian neoclassicism, its walls are adorned with reliefs and statues embodying the symbolism of the regime. Restored between 2005 and 2010, it is Italy's second-largest railway station, with an annual passenger flow of around 120 million.

Airbus Stazione Centrale: the shuttle run by Milan's urban transport company ATM links the airport to Milan's Central Station (departing from Piazza Luigi di Savoia) every 30 minutes (6am-11pm). Ticket: €5.

Bicycle rental system set up in 2012 by the city of Verona, with several hundred bicycles spread over some thirty stations. The system works in a similar way to the Vélib' system in Greater Paris. To rent a bike, you have to register in advance on the Internet or at the tourist office. The registration fee is 2 €/day or 5 €/week. A simple and practical way to get around the city and avoid traffic jams. Be careful, the rules are strict: maximum use of 2 hours, from 6am to midnight (overruns penalized).

After the Stazione di Milano Centrale, this is one of the most important stations in the city: about 25 million passengers pass through every year. It is used by suburban, regional and national trains, as well as the TGV (high-speed train) connecting Milan and Paris (Gare de Lyon). From this station, you can reach the cities of Bergamo, Cremona, Varese, Turin, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples and Salerno by train. The station was opened in 1961 and takes its name from the nearby Garibaldi Gate of the ancient city walls.

ATM (Azienda Transporti Milanesi) provides a dense and efficient public transport network in and around Milan.

Bus. More than 50 bus lines cover all areas of the city.

Tramways. Although modern carriages have almost entirely replaced the old ones, historic models from the early ^20th century can still be seen on some lines.

Metro. 5 lines, operating from 6 a.m. to midnight. In addition, the Passante Ferroviario connects Milan's railway stations.

The Paris Gallieni Porte Bagnolet bus station is an ideal starting point for bus travel in France and Europe. The Eurolines and isilines bus companies offer routes to many cities in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine and the UK. Departure times are varied, and some routes are available every day. The Paris Gallieni Porte Bagnolet bus station is easily accessible by public transport and has all the amenities required by travelers.

Located in the university district of Città Studi, this train station connects Milan with certain destinations in southern Lombardy. A shuttle service connects this station with Linate airport every 20 min.

To the north-west of the city, Milan's main bus station is the terminus and departure point for the Flixbus and Blablabus companies, which link the capital of Lombardy to Paris and a number of French (Lyon, Nice, Marseille...) and European cities. Although trains are preferred, daily buses to Italy's major cities leave regularly from here, as do regional buses to visit the Lake District or the Italian Alps. Information desk and ticket sales. The Trenord company provides rail connections between Milan's main stations (Rogoredo, Centrale, Cadorna...) and various Lombardy towns within a 30 km radius. The 13 S lines provide easy access to the whole of Lombardy thanks to the passanti, omnibuses that serve Saronno, Lecco, Monza and Pavia.
