LE CLOS SAINTE MAGDELEINE
Read moreCassis wines, AOC since 1936! Clos Sainte-Magdeleine has belonged to the Zafiropulo family since 1920, but its history goes back much further. The estate is said to be the oldest vineyard in Cassis. The earliest written records of the Cassidain vineyard, dating from the late 14th century, place a vineyard on the exact site of Clos Sainte Magdeleine. At the end of the 19th century, Jules Savon, the village's former mayor, revived the vineyard. He even won a gold medal for his white wine at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900. The vineyard's fine reputation is due to a wine made from grapes bathed in sunshine and swept by the air of the sea below. Clos Sainte Magdeleine's specialty is white wine, which accounts for almost 80% of total production, with the remaining 20% allocated to rosé. Some wines are now certified organic.
