Media library Aquitaine

The Médiathèque du Marsan was built in an emblematic sector of the city of Mont-de-Marsan, that of the Bosquet barracks and the 6th Parachute Regiment of the Marine Infantry. Exhibitions, conferences, workshops for young and old take place in this place of discovery of glass and steel with an absolutely remarkable architecture. The media library, the^third largest in Aquitaine after Bordeaux and Pau, has some 100,000 books, 12,000 music CDs, 6,000 DVDs and 32 computer stations. Not to mention its 120-seat auditorium.

Located right in the center of town, a stone's throw from Les Halles, this media library is housed in a huge four-storey building. Each level is equipped with reading lights, small lounges, tables... and is dedicated to children and teenagers, human and social sciences, Béarn and Aquitaine, literature... It's a bright, modern cultural center. Digital readers can be borrowed or consulted on site. Internet access provides access to numerous press nuggets. Plus: a 200 m² exhibition room and a 120-seat auditorium.

A separate place that accommodates children, and teenagers up to 14 years old as well as teenagers and adults from age 15. Lending space for children and adolescents: 18 000 books, 25 journals of albums for all ages, documentaries adapted to all ages, working space, (encyclopedias dictionaries), for the larger ones: Relaxation space for books and magazines, 35 000 books books, documentaries, comics, police novels, science-fiction, magazines, newspapers, weekly, monthly, discs at 3 000, films number of 1 500. :: a place connected with ten computers, possible use of all software, Internet access, accompaniment to a facilitator, workshops: discovery of computer for all, discovery Internet, multimedia discovery… and the most: consultation room with documentation, cd-rom, etc., and former regional fund, René Char Hall: lecture room h, interviews, counties shows, readings, exhibitions.

A real centre of life, with a surface area of 989 m2, this media library offers from Tuesday to Saturday to the general public a collection of 2,224 printed documents, including: 1,000 in Spanish and 600 in Basque, audio documents with a collection of 3,800 CDs, including 700 of Basque music, book-cassettes (300), 59 videos and 35 CD-ROMs for consultation, newspapers, magazines (127 subscriptions), with library or discotheque rooms, with a total of 86 places. Activities with groups, schools, conferences, poetry evenings, exhibitions.
