MUNICIPAL MUSEUM LES FOURS BANAUX
A small museum, installed at the foot of the belfry of Vierzon, proposes to retrace the history of two ovens dating from the 15th century.
From the xivth century to the Revolution, the Fours Banaux de Vierzon were the forced passage of all the inhabitants of the city. This is where they came to cook bread with family, a basic element of food under ancient France. This small museum, located at the foot of the belfry, in the heart of the historic center, proposes to trace the history of two fourteenth century ovens. These two historical pieces are presented as well as a model that reveals the face of the sub-prefecture of Cher in the Middle Ages. Polychrome statues of the fifteenth century, representing the four evangelists, were also installed. All of this is added to the old clocks of the belfry, the real attractions of this museum.
