DOMAINE MICHEL THOMAS
Read moreIn Les Egrots, a small hamlet in the commune of Sury-en-Vaux, 4 kilometres from Sancerre, Michel and Laurent Thomas run a 17-hectare estate of white (12 hectares), red and rosé (5 hectares in pinot noir) AOC sancerre vines. In the Thomas family, vines are a tradition and passion has passed from father to son. The production is harvested and vinified by them at the estate. The vineyard is planted on several types of soils: pebbles, limestone and stony soils giving fine and fruity wines, very pleasant to drink young, white soils, clay-limestone soils giving full-bodied wines and longer ageing, flint, very hard siliceous sedimentary rocks, giving smoky aromas, a very mineral flavor that develops after a few years.
