The halle, built here in 1456, was replaced in 1883 by a heavy, unaesthetic building. Becoming useless, it was abolished in 1981. It is in this place that we find the most craftsmen (mainly potters and art galleries) and places of tasting. In the beautiful days, the restaurant terraces settle on this lively esplanade during the day and evening. In winter, it is the Christmas market, with its chalets and artisans, that invests the square. A pleasant place for a break in the heart of Sancerre.
