POLE OF THE STARS OF NANÇAY
Planetarium and radio astronomy station with a large radio telescope, the fourth largest in the world, in Nançay.
Exceptional! A place of this kind was not met every day, inaugurated in 1965. It is above all an astronomy station with impressive instruments: a large telescope, the fourth largest in the world receiving electromagnetic waves from the universe; a radio-heliographer pointed to the sun - as his name suggests; a deca-metric network examining the electromagnetic phenomena of the sun and Jupiter; a network of the LOFAR network to form the largest radio telescope in the world; a CODALEMA network looking for radio emissions from cosmic radiation… A whole program! This is also what this famous STAR POLE - created twenty years ago for the general public - is suggesting to stimulate knowledge in the astronomy universe, both for small and large, the planetarium offers trips among the constellations in the atmosphere of a deep and deep sky.
