LE CANAL LATÉRAL DE LA LOIRE
Discover the Canal Latéral, a historic waterway offering peaceful strolls and unmissable stops in the Sancerrois region.
Parallel to the Loire, the Canal Latéral, created in 1832, links Briare to Digoin via Léré, Saint-Satur and Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre. Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre, through which the canal passes, developed along the waterway in the 19th century. Today, it's a popular stopover for "Loire à vélo" bicycle tours and cruises. You can moor your boat at the nautical stop. Peaceful strolls along the river banks offer a wonderful opportunity to discover the surrounding countryside and villages.
