This military structure was built under Wilhelm II, in 1893, and housed German troops. It can be visited in 2.5 hours along a 2 kilometre long route including numerous staircases and a vast maze of underground passages. The fort has several specialised structures (batteries, barracks, command posts, observatories) linked together by galleries. It is the largest fortification built before the First World War: 40,000 m² of underground space, 22 artillery turrets... The site allows you to understand the history of the fort.

Opening time and information on FORT DE MUTZIG
Open all year round. Free for children under 6 (accompanied by their parents). Adults: €12. Children (aged 6 to 16): €7. Vacation vouchers. Please bring suitable footwear and clothing (temperature 12°C/14°C - duration 2h30).

Le dépliant est très bien détaillé et il est facile de se déplacer en suivant les flèches au sol. N’hésitez pas à poser des questions aux bénévoles sur place. Prévoir 2h pour la visite si vous lisez le dépliant pour chaque endroit. Vous pouvez entrer jusqu’à 16h, et le site ferme vers 18h.
Besonders hervorzuheben ist das dies hier alles auf Ehrenamt basiert und von einem Verein ausgeht was ich absolut bewundernswert finde.
Der Preis für 12€ ist mehr als gerechtfertigt!
Es gibt kostenlose Parkplätze.
Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit UND sprechen größtenteils auch Deutsch. Sie beantworten sämtliche Fragen und nehmen sich wirklich viel Zeit sind dabei aber nicht aufdringlich.
Alles was ausgestellt ist, ist original aus der Zeit des 1.Weltkriegs und erhalten.
