A fort housing German troops and several interconnected specialized structures such as batteries, barracks...

This military structure was built under Wilhelm II, in 1893, and housed German troops. It can be visited in 2.5 hours along a 2 kilometre long route including numerous staircases and a vast maze of underground passages. The fort has several specialised structures (batteries, barracks, command posts, observatories) linked together by galleries. It is the largest fortification built before the First World War: 40,000 m² of underground space, 22 artillery turrets... The site allows you to understand the history of the fort.

Belle découverte de la région qui n’est selon moi pas assez mise en valeur. Travail acharné des bénévoles pour remettre en état ce lieu. Bon accueil, visite agréable.

Onder de indruk van het bezoek aan dit fort wat ooit het grootste fort ter wereld was. Tijdens een wandeling van 2 km ontdek je een stukje van het fort waar ooit 7000 soldaten verbleven. Op verschillende punten staan er gidsen om je meer uitleg te geven of vragen te beantwoorden. Een extra dankwoordje voor de dame aan de kassa en de jongedame aan het stroomvoorzieningsgedeelte.
