The boutique has been open on rue d'Auron for several years. Volunteers take it in turns in the Artisans du Monde boutique to sell fair-trade handicrafts and food products. The products come from Asia, South America and Africa: jewelry, bags, clothing, home decor, coffee, chocolates, spices... Here, meticulous care is taken to ensure that only fair trade and fair trade-labeled products are sold. Producers work in cooperatives and are paid a fair price, without intermediaries. The various handicrafts are chosen for their aesthetic qualities and originality. In the food section, you'll find fair-trade coffees, teas and chocolates. The "fair trade" concept also applies to local producers wishing to market jams and fruit juices. The Artisans du Monde association in Bourges (which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016) is also a partner for the social and solidarity economy. The boutique is (well) run by a team of volunteers driven by the same motivation: to remunerate producers at a level that enables them to make a dignified living from their work and remain on their land. The euros you spend in this boutique will directly contribute to improving the living standards of communities in the North and South.
