As every last weekend in August, the Fête des marais in Bourges is an opportunity for Berruyers, Berrichons and tourists to share a beautiful slice of life. The swamps are teeming with curiosities. How good it is to let one's gaze wander over all these small gardens fed by the water of the seven rivers that flow here! For the occasion, the boats are decked out in their most beautiful finery with tangle of flowers in shimmering colours. Visitors can take a boat ride on this rare occasion. Scarecrow contests, vide-cabanes, fruit and vegetable sales are played to the sounds of the guinguette. At nightfall, the onlookers reach the marshes by various footpaths by moonlight or with their headlamps on, until they reach the Yèvre dam where the animation bursts out. The illuminated boats sail over the water before the amazed eyes of the onlookers. The enchantment continues with the traditional fireworks display. A very popular party that this year celebrated its 32nd anniversary.
