Imposing castle of military architecture, built in the 15th century by Viscount Jean II of Rohan, to be admired from the outside
The castle of Pontivy was built in the 15th century by Viscount Jean II of Rohan, son-in-law and opponent of the Duke of Brittany François II, and governor of Brittany for Charles VIII. The city developed around this imposing castle of military architecture. The facade overlooking the inner courtyard was modified during the 7th and 8th centuries. If it is still not possible to visit it, it remains a must to admire from the outside.

Ce magnifique château en plein centre de Pontivy était encore fermé pour cause d'un mur très endommagé par une tempête mais nous en avons fait le tour avec la guide que nous avions pris pour découvrir cette petite ville pleine d'histoire et où la famille de Rohan est très présente.
