SUBMARINE FLORE-S645

Accompanied by a tour guide, you will discover the largest fortress of the 20th century. This important centre of the history of the Second World War (in 1940, it was the main submarines base on the German's Atlantic) is a capital monument of human heritage for it displays military architecture as well as traces of strategic events of the 20th century. With a large reception capacity under the shelter of around 30 submarines, the Lorient base is the largest of Mur de l'Atlantique which includes those of Brest, Saint-Nazaire, La Pallice and Bordeaux. After its liberation, it was used by the French Navy until 1997. Between 2001 and 2007 it was an economic, touristic and nautical centre. Keroman base has been labelled Patrimoine du XXe siècle.
