Ecomuseum that tells the social history of the forges of Hennebont, whose rooms present the techniques of the time.

This ecomuseum tells the social history of the forges of Hennebont. It all began in 1860 with the Trottier brothers who set up their ironworks. The forges were then bought by the Société Générale des Cirages Français and reached their peak in 1936, employing up to 3,000 people. They finally closed in 1966. The rooms of the eco-museum present the techniques of the time, the traditions and the working life of the metal workers in the 19th and 20th centuries. The models, photos and films will take you to the heart of history.

Open from April to October. And from March to December by reservation for groups of more than 10 people. Low season: open Monday to Friday, 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm; Sundays and public holidays, 2pm to 6pm. High season: Monday to Friday, 10am to 6:30pm; weekends and public holidays, 2pm to 6:30pm. Open every Sunday in June and September. Adults: €5.50. Children (aged 6 to 26): €3. Groups (11 people): €4.

Ce musée a l'immense mérite de faire toucher du doigt un monde industriel méconnu encore aujourd'hui mais à une époque ou les CHSCT n'existaient pas. C'était la tradition qui régnait. Voir en debut de visite 2 films époustouflants montrant les aciéristes jonglant avec des vers de terre de 25m d'acier incandescent.
Bravo pour l'idée et la volonté necessaires pour créer un tel musee.
A voir et revoir à tout âge. Un merci pour l'accueil et ses réponses à nos questions ????????????????????????

Nous nous y sommes rendus ce 30 août 2023 et n'avons pas regretté. 100 ans de l'histoire des forges y sont retracées. Beaucoup d'émotion devant la dureté des tâches entamées très jeune.
Films, maquettes, illustrations, outils font de cet écomusée un lieu que nous conseillons vivement.
