TRONJOLY CASTLE
Eighteenth century castle near a pond on the outskirts of Gourin, with a facade with arched pediment and ironwork balconies.
Tronjoly Castle, an architectural splendour of the 18th century, is nestled near a pond on the outskirts of Gourin. A manor house, whose ruins can still be seen in the 19th century, preceded this imposing residence with a very regular facade, a curved pediment and a pretty curved iron balcony, the date 1768 of which is inscribed on the west wall. Unfortunately, some elements of the estate have disappeared: the private chapel of Tronjoly (disappeared after the Revolution), a water mill as well as a windmill and a dovecote in the east. On the west side of the castle is a small niche that contained a bell. It bears the inscription: "My stamp sounds exactly as it should be". In 1984, the municipality acquired the estate and made it a place for exhibitions, art and crafts in season. It is also on the estate that the Crepe Festival and the Brittany Traditional Music Championship are organised.
