MARCHÉ SAINTE-THÉRÈSE

Openair market

Located in the south of Rennes, this market is certainly one of the most popular and busiest, along with that of Les Lices. In addition to food, it sells clothes and a host of manufactured goods. 217 regular traders and a few transients (who draw lots for their place that morning) flock here, serving regulars who often have their circuit well in mind. You'll find such excellent products as Bocel vegetables, Ma Fromagerie fine cheeses, Fagots et Froments organic sourdough breads, Félix coffees... But also flowers and plants. A word of advice: bring a good shopping cart to fill up on victuals, and come early to avoid strollers.

MARCHÉ SAINT-GERMAIN

Openair market

Around 1900, every Wednesday morning, local farmers would come and sell their victuals on Place Saint-Germain. The tradition lives on. Today, this food market on a human scale brings together around ten traders. Visitors come to stock up on fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, seafood, cheeses, meats and charcuterie... and, of course, the inevitable crêpes, galettes and local delicacies. After eight years on the other side of the footbridge, Place Toussaint, this market has returned to its home port, the beautifully renovated Place Saint-Germain. Free of its palisades and now pedestrianized, it brings a breath of fresh air to the area around the church.
