THE PLACE OF THE LICES
Go there and contact
The Place des Lices was once the site of the equestrian joust between two rivals separated by the lice at Rennes.
Place des lices or equestrian jousting ground, this square once pitted two rivals against each other. Nowadays, surrounded by half-timbered houses and old mansions, its center is home to the Halles Martenot, two Baltard-style metal pavilions built in the 19th century and listed as historic monuments. The Place des Lices is still famous for its Saturday morning market, which has been held here since 1622. Classified as one of the most beautiful markets in France, it brings together all the local produce (galettes, crêpes, seafood).
