Squares dedicated to Louis XIV and Louis XV in Rennes.
After the fire of 1720, two squares were built in Rennes. The one dedicated to Louis XIV housed the Parliament, while the other, dedicated to Louis XV and designed by architect Jacques Gabriel, brought together the town hall, the presidial building and the Horloge tower. To the east, the Opera House, built a century later by Millardet, stands out for its architectural curves, in vogue at the end of the First Empire. A particular feature of the square, these two monuments are visually intertwined. The epicenter of Rennes, Place de la Mairie hosts numerous events throughout the year.
