The oldest departmental museum of Finistère in Quimper presents Breton history and culture since prehistoric times.
The Breton Departmental Museum, created in 1846, is the oldest in Finistère. Leaning against the cathedral, it occupies the former palace of the bishops of Cornouaille. The history and culture of Brittany since prehistory are honoured in the permanent collections. The museum also offers noteworthy temporary thematic exhibitions, organised in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts. Clever: from October to May, admission is free at weekends!

Une visite incontournable pour qui arrive à Quimper ou veut mieux connaître la Bretagne et son patrimoine, ses traditions. Le bâtiment en lui-même est magnifique . la collection permanente comme les exposition temporaires sont d'une grande richesse et diversité. Mention spéciale pour les enfants qui trouveront pas mal d'activité adaptées à leur âge. A faire et à refaire...

très belle initiative d'associer le monde animal aux habits bretons , belle démonstration de créativité bretonne en s'inspirant de la nature , l'art breton simplement!
