Former abbey of Landévennec with vegetable garden and medicinal garden, housing a museum rich in information and a fun exhibition

The ruins of the abbey stands proudly at the edge of the Aulne. Founded between the 5th and 6th century by Saint Guénolé, the abbey was progressively destroyed by the Vikings in 913, rebuilt several times, then disappeared during the Revolution, during which the monks were expelled. The museum traces the lively history of the site which become the oldest and most famous sanctuary of Brittany. The view is exceptional, the very educational museum and a recreational exhibition is available from April to November. Throughout the year, educational workshops, concerts and events animate the ruins of this medieval archaeology's major place. The garden and the vegetable garden where visitors can walk, embody the monastic gardens before the year one thousand.

Visible before entering the museum, the ruins of the abbey are extraordinary and recall a little those you can find everywhere in the United Kingdom. The museum is surely would have been very interesting if it had not been closed (in low season)... Never mind, it will be for forthcoming once!
