THE KANNDIS
The kanndi? It is a small house that has had a significant impact on the economic life of Brittany. Indeed, it is within these buandious houses that an essential step in lineage activity was taken: laundering of flax yarns. This textile industry has created prosperity in the territory until the eighteenth century, and has resulted in the building of sumptuous parish enclosures. The kanndis, they seemed to have fallen into oblivion. But local history enthusiasts, after excavation campaigns in the archives and on the ground, have found this inextricable link in Breton's Breton history and unique to the Leonard country. Some kanndis, all built on the same model and scattered in the countryside around Landerneau, have been rehabilitated. During the summer period, commented visits are organized so as not to lose the thread of this past.
