CHAPELLE DE SAINT-MAURICE-THIZOUAILLE
Sheepfold converted into the chapel of Saint-Maurice-Thizouaille, with murals by the famous painter Robert Falcucci.
This chapel is full of surprises. Built in the 13th century and demolished in 1903, its furnishings were transferred to the nearby church of Saint-Maurice-le-Vieil. In 1912, the church was reborn as a sheepfold. It now features murals by the famous painter Robert Falcucci (1900-1989). The artist had close ties with the Yonne, where he spent his youth. His paintings depict the Stations of the Cross, the Last Supper, the Nativity and the Baptism of Jesus.
