Visite très intéressante !!!!
Les images presentees sont belles mais le plus important est les explications apportées par notre guide: vrai passionné et puit de connaissance qui permet d'en apprendre énormément sur la basilique et plus largement sur les églises en général.....

Expérience fantastique. Notre guide nous a fait découvrir la basilique d'une façon extrêmement intéressante. Le matériel utilisé dans la cave de la maison est d'une grande efficacité pour nous faire comprendre la construction de cette magnifique église. Un grand moment. Merci

Wir kamen mittags per Rad nach Vezelay. Zu unserem großen Glück konnten wir direkt um 14:30 mit einer Führung die Basilika auf besondere Weise erfahren und erleben. Der Audiovision Film und die Erklärungen am Modell vermitteln einen tiefen Zugang zur Geschichte der Basilika. Viel besser als einen Text im Buch zu lesen ist der persönliche Guide !
Kleiner Nachteil: während der Bauarbeiten ist die Akkustik schlecht. Wir würden uns ein Headset für den Guide und Kopfhörer wünschen. Dafür würde wir auch 3-4 € zusätzlich zahlen.

Incroyables impressions d'avantages géographiques et naturels de cet endroit. Il y a toujours des lieux historiques ouverts. Une grande route piétonne.

Nous étions 4 pour la visite du solstice d’hiver. Temps déplorable mais visite magnifique adaptée à nos envies et aux circonstances. Des explications fouillées et précises. Beaucoup d’échanges et d’interactions. Des réponses à toutes nos questions.
Un accueil chaleureux et une guide formidable et passionnée.

Christopher , par son talent , nous a fait partager un grand moment d'émotion lors de la découverte de la basilique .Nous l'en remercions .

It was surprising to experience the guides of 'La Maison du Visiteur'. Christopher in particular guided us with great passion in a world of symbolism, wisdom, light and love in an accessible warm hearted en calm way. He broadened our understanding of the Basilica of Light wich made me feel how heaven and earth are intertwined in this building and although the Basilica dates back to the 12th century, it is so alive and 'up to date' in our contemporary world. An absolute must to be immersed in this world by the guides of 'La Maison du Visiteur' and to be enchanted and amazed. Nadia

I registered a group of sixteen 7th graders (niveau du 5em in France) for a mini-pilgrimage, a visit of the Cathedral and a workshop at the “Maison du Visiteur” with Christopher Kelly.
All day, these students eagerly progressed from one activity to another: experiencing the climb from the Church of Saint Jacques (outside Vezelay) where pilgrims of another epoch deposed all they had to proceed humbly and in equality on the last stretch to the Basilica; the walk along field-hedges separating fields of crops, through a village and towards the clearing where Bernard de Clairvaux called for the Second Crusade. From there, they made a halt in the tiny, 800-year old Franciscan Chapel of La Cordelle for a moment of true silence. From there, the students continued climbing, up through the village of Vezelay, to the Basilica. Before entering however, we stopped at the Visitors’ Center and learned about the spiritual and philosophical construction of this UNESCO heritage building: a place dedicated to peace, to light (both physical and spiritual), and to dialogue.

Christopher Kelly provided enthralling explanations of Medieval geometry and astronomy with a demonstration (using lights and a model of Vezelay) of the genius that went into the building of the Basilica as a union of stone (humankind) and grace (God). Mr. Kelly introduced the students to the profound symbolism that permeates every aspect of this edifice. In the afternoon, the sixteen 13-year-olds sketched one aspect of the Basilica that impressed them and then, in a darkened room, they reproduced by “heart-memory” what they had drawn. Finally, they presented both original sketch and “blind” copy to the group who silently viewed them. The effect of the spiritual imprint of the light, forms, and emotion that inspired the first sketch were obvious to everyone in the second.

Finally, it’s important to note that in an age where adolescents are often glued to phones and have difficulty appreciating the depth and wealth of our religious, cultural and spiritual heritage, these sixteen students were attentive and engaged throughout the day. I highly recommend this sight to any teacher wishing to transmit something of Vezelay’s immense beauty and riches to the younger generation. (I would recommend it, in fact, for any person wishing a truly spiritual, inner understanding of the cultural jewel that Vezelay represents.)

Tout est bien documenté. Le guide connaissait sa matière. Il a tout expliqué de façon à la fois très complète et facile à comprendre.
La Maison du visiteur est un incontournable pour pleinement profiter d’une visite à Vézelay.

L'avis du petit Futé est tout à fait complet. J'ai visité la Maison du Visiteur et également fait la visite guidée de la Basilique que propose la Maison du Visiteur : c'est une autre façon de découvrir l'édifice.
