BOUTISSAINT NATURAL PARK
To live the Boutissaint experience is to live a unique natural immersion in Europe! So, run to awaken your senses and offer yourself unforgettable memories in this superb 420-hectare natural park where 400 animals live in total freedom: deer, fallow deer, wild boar, European bison, mouflons in enclosures... A true "paradise" to explore freely or with a guide, on foot, with your bikes or with your horses. Here, at each season, Mother Nature offers her palette of colors and her animal "events" (births, deer bellowing...). The youngest ones will love to evolve in the middle of the dwarf goats (the queens of the cuddles!). Or go for a pony ride in the park (on reservation). Catering is also available at the "Bouti'café". And Boutissaint even offers gîtes in the heart of the park, and a camper van parking area, perfect for overnight stays. New in 2022: every Tuesday evening in the summer, a dinner is offered in front of the deer park. Don't miss the morning and evening events in September-October (reservations are recommended for all these events). As you can see, Boutissaint is an absolute must in the Treigny region. A place with a rich history.
Thus, originally, Boticen (its name at the time) was a collegiate church of canons of Saint-Augustin dependent on the abbey of Saint-Satur (Cher). In the 15th century, it became a priory under the dependence of Saint Amâtre of Auxerre. To finally be abandoned at the beginning of the XVIth. Then the story unfolds... Until 1968, when a certain Pierre-Elie Borione creates here the first park of vision of France. Since then, in addition to the animals mentioned above, one can contemplate a wide variety of forest species with hundred-year-old oaks (such as the Saint-Louis whose circumference exceeds 4 meters), spruces, beeches, cherry trees, chestnut trees, cypresses... And let's not forget the "ghost" of the writer Colette (1873-1954) who reigns here. As a child, she liked to come and get lost. She even used it as a setting for one of her great classics, Claudine à l'école: "I have lived in these woods for ten years of mad wanderings, conquests and discoveries; the day I have to leave them I will be very sad", she wrote. How we understand her! Because, yes, Boutissaint is an experience to be lived absolutely!
