Under the name "Museums of Meaning" are gathered all the historical masterpieces of the city which are now gathered together and can be visited at the same time: next to the cathedral and its treasure (of inestimable value, both artistically and historically), you will discover the synodal palace (13th century, restored by Viollet-le-Duc), the Archbishops' palace (16th and 18th centuries) and the Orangery of 1684, with its small garden. This makes this historical and cultural space one of the most beautiful museums in France. To see in particular: precious liturgical vestments, including the 8th century chasuble of Saint Ebbon and the 12th century priestly vestments of Saint Thomas Beckett. Woven silks, tapestries, enamels, ivory, goldsmith's work (such as the 12th century holy shrine), everything here shines with a thousand lights. The synodal palace with its dungeons with walls covered with ancient graffiti, and above all its magnificent synod hall with rib vaults, is particularly worth a visit. The prehistoric, protohistoric and Gallo-Roman collections, as well as sculptures and paintings dating from the 15th to the 20th century, are completed by the Marrey Collection. There are also works by Brueghel, Boudin, Watteau de Lille, Rodin, and a unique collection of furniture by Raymond Sube and ceramics by Jean Mayodon. An absolutely unmissable place.
