Don't let the first glance at this church make you think it is similar to the others. It is not so. The church of Saint-Georges conceals a deep mystery. This 14th century building was enlarged, especially the nave, in 1782, but the intrigue lies outside, in the cemetery that surrounds the church. More than a thousand Merovingian sarcophagi were found in the vicinity of the church, of which only 112 elements remain visible today, namely 66 lids and 46 vats whose origin is still unknown. To try to find out, the visitor can look at the two sarcophagi and the lid preserved inside. Do you need help? The association Les Amis de Saint-Georges will be able to enlighten you.
