Charlemagne's three grandsons fought for the division of the empire on June 25th, 841. The troops of Lothaire, Louis le Germanique and Charles le Chauve fought against each other. It is a prelude to the Treaty of Verdun, signed in 843 that set the division of the Carolingian Empire. The museum managed by the association FONTANETUM 841 displays an electronic model of the battle made during educational workshops. Documents, weapons found on the site, Carolingian mosaics and J.Perreaut sculptures are to be seen. A guided tour of the museum and the historical site is offered. Sculptures by J. Perreaut.
