To the west of Mulhouse, the state-owned Hardt forest is Alsace's second largest wooded area, after Haguenau. Covering thirteen thousand hectares, it is also the largest natural charmaie in Europe. There are also many oaks, pines and fruit trees: cherry, corm... The fauna is made up of common species such as wild boar, roe deer, rabbits... This magnificent, well-preserved forest is criss-crossed by numerous paths for the sole pleasure of walkers.
