Abbatiale Saints-Pierre-et-Paul d'Ottmarsheim: an 11th-century Romanesque jewel on the Alsace Romanesque Route, waiting to be discovered!
Standing proudly on Alsace's Romanesque Route, Ottmarsheim's Saints-Pierre-et-Paul abbey church has defied the test of time. Born at the instigation of Rodolphe d'Altenbourg, ancestor of the Habsburgs, it was consecrated in 1049 by an Alsatian pope, Leo IX. Its octagonal architecture, inspired by Aachen, blends early Christian, Byzantine and Ottonian influences. Devastated, pillaged, rebuilt, it is constantly being reborn. Today, its stones whisper a thousand years of history, and its theatrical tours plunge you into the heart of a fascinating past.

A l'intérieur, vous ne pouvez être qu'émerveillés par la magnificence de ce lieu. L'église présent une tribune dont certaines sont peintes d'un enduit qui reste de très bonne qualité. Il se dégage de cet édifice une sérénité que l'on ne retrouve que rarement ailleurs.
A ne pas manquer de toute évidence !
