Standing proudly on Alsace's Romanesque Route, Ottmarsheim's Saints-Pierre-et-Paul abbey church has defied the test of time. Born at the instigation of Rodolphe d'Altenbourg, ancestor of the Habsburgs, it was consecrated in 1049 by an Alsatian pope, Leo IX. Its octagonal architecture, inspired by Aachen, blends early Christian, Byzantine and Ottonian influences. Devastated, pillaged, rebuilt, it is constantly being reborn. Today, its stones whisper a thousand years of history, and its theatrical tours plunge you into the heart of a fascinating past.

Ich bin begeistert, so einen kleinen Schatz hier zu entdecken, der in so wunderbarem Zustand ist. Quasi der "kleine Bruder" zum Aachener Dom. Da wenige Besucher da waren, hat dieser Bau eine ganz besondere Stimmung. Unbedingt anschauen, wenn man Interesse an Baukunst hat!
