When Amir Khan inherited the Tonk region from the Maharaja of Indore for his loyal service to his army, one of his first acts was to endow what was still a village with a splendid mosque. The building's architecture blends Mughal and Rajasthani styles. The prayer hall is crowned by 4 high minarets topped with chhatris, or bell towers. The façade is richly and beautifully decorated with floral paintings. The prayer hall, too, is richly decorated with paintings and stuccoes.
