Things to see and do Ras El Ma

Located 17 km west of Ras El Ma, this beautiful cove with its crystal-clear waters and ochre-colored sand, accessible by stairs, is a victim of its own success in summer. It's a pity, but out of season it offers a lovely spot of tranquillity in a superb setting. At the foot of steep cliffs, the beach is split in two and juts out into the sea. In summer, young people jump off the rocks and the isthmus is crowded with beach umbrellas. A number of beach restaurants serve tajines, sardines and a variety of fresh fish. Water sports are also available.

Just over 3 km off Ras El Ma, the Zaffarines islands, also known as Jaafarines or Chafarines, are an archipelago made up of three islands (Isla del Congreso, Isla Isla Isabel II and Isla del Rey), under Spanish control since 1848. Only the small island in the middle, Isabelle II, is inhabited by around 200 people. These include military personnel and their families, Spanish coastguards, scientists and meteorologists. The archipelago is also a protected national reserve, home to a rich and varied ecosystem.
