CONCOURS DE FAUCHAGE D’HERBE DE KUPRES

This competition (Dani Kosidbe na Kupresu) is organized by the Association of Reapers of Kupres, in Tropolje. Also called Strljanica after the hill where it takes place, it dates back to 1687. Every year, dozens of men from the region compete, scythe in hand and in traditional clothes, to see who will be the fastest to harvest the hay for the livestock. Since 2020, this custom has been included in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.
