ÉGLISE SAINT-NICOLAS DE SRĐEVIĆI
Small Serbian Orthodox church with frescoes painted in the late century, just before the Ottoman invasion of the region.
This small, slate-roofed Serbian Orthodox church (Crkva svetog Nikole u Srđevićima/Црква Светог Николе у Срђевићима) is a rarity: it houses frescoes painted just before the Ottoman invasion of the region. Half-buried in the ground, it was erected and decorated in the late 16th century for the local noble families Srđevići and Trkovići. Difficult to find, it is located 11 km west of Gacko bypassing the lignite mines (GPS: 43.166179, 18.481912).
