Halfway between Townsville and Mount Isa, Richmond is a small outback town with a strong sheep and beef industry. Along the Heritage Walk, you'll discover historic buildings such as the Cambridge Downs Heritage Display Centre. Richmond is also famous for its marine fossils: some 100 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, western Queensland was covered by the sea. The Kronosaurus Korner Museum is the town's main attraction. On your way to or from Richmond, you can make a quick stop at Hughenden to admire the views over the region.
