RUTA DE LES MASIES I ELS CAMINS RAMADERS
7 km route passing by farms used as refuges by Republican soldiers during the Spanish Civil War
During the Spanish Civil War, the farms of the region served as a refuge for Republican soldiers. An itinerary of 7 km proposes to discover these agricultural buildings, such as Can Panedes, referenced since the 13th century, or Can Plantada, a typical Catalan farmhouse mentioned as early as 1152. Let's also mention Can Plandolit, whose origins date back to the 12th century: 5 refugees from Mequinensa, a municipality in the province of Zaragoza, are said to have hidden there in April 1937! Finally, near the access to the C-17 motorway, Can Draper, a majestic farmhouse whose origin was mentioned as early as 1151. Between 1937 and 1939, it is said to have served as a refuge for 14 Republican refugees!
