Located in the north between Bouaké and Khorogo, between the regions of Hambol, Béré and Poro, the Wildlife Reserve of Haut Bandama created in 1973 is made up of dry forest and gallery forest of the Bandama River bordering the Bandama River as well as Sudan savannah. It is close to Katiola. It covers an area of 122,162 ha in the meanders of the Bandama River and is home to some elephants, buffaloes and antelopes. The area is very wild and not touristy. This reserve was illegally occupied and exploited from 2002 to 2015 due to the military-political crisis. All illegal occupants have now "cleared out"
