COMPLEJO ECOLÓGICO MUSEO DEL ÁRBOL
This 55-hectare complex, located at the top of a hill overlooking the Río Paraná, is named after its mini-museum dedicated to trees. The Galería Casa de Madera is a hut with the Tronco de los Lamentos inside, representing trees that have fallen victim to deforestation, and various slices of tree trunks native to the region. There's also the poetic Árbol de los Deseos: write a wish on a piece of paper and hang it up. The idea behind the complex created by Don Mario is to make visitors aware of the importance of the forest, in one of the world's most deforested countries. Along an easy trail (1.3 km, 45 min.), punctuated by watchtowers, you'll come across some 30 varieties of native trees, including the tajy (lapacho), the national tree. Afterwards, you can enjoy ecotourism activities such as the "swing at the end of the world", or a chair that takes you above the void... The most impressive activity is the bicitirolesa (bicycle-tyrolean traverse), the first of its kind in Paraguay! At the entrance to the complex, be sure to take a photo of yourself on the giant chair(silla gigante), which offers a splendid panorama. Camping is possible with your own equipment (showers, toilets and electricity are available). Beware: similar-style complexes have sprung up along the access road to the Museo del Árbol. They rarely meet safety standards and, above all, are of little interest compared to the original, the only officially authorized one.
