The capital of the same name has a population of 23,000 and boasts a number of tourist attractions, including Wat Mahathat, the city pillars from the ancient town of Si Thep, and above all Wat Trai Phum, which contains a Lopburi-style Buddha statue. Si Thep Historical Park and Nam Mao National Park are the province's two biggest tourist attractions. To reach Sri Thep National Park by car, take Route 21 from Saraburi to Lom Sak, then turn off at km 102 onto Route 2211 and continue for 9 km to Phetchabun. By bus, from Bangkok Mo Chit 2 station, take the bus to Ban Klang.
