SILVER CASTLE
Ruins of a medieval castle on a pleasant hill of Saint-Pierre.
On a hill in the middle of the vineyards stand the ruins of the motte castrale of Châtel-Argent. The structure preserves intact from the Middle Ages: a large circular tower, whose entrance is positioned at a height of five metres, the surrounding walls and a Romanesque chapel (older than the rest of the building). The name of the castle is probably due to the fact that in its early days it was used for minting money: indeed, the site, which is located in a strategic position, has always been under the direct control of the Savoys, an exception in the region.
