The first small village after Pila in the valley, about twenty kilometres from Aosta, this small mountain hamlet is charming. Saint-Pierre has two castles that are a must-see: the Saint-Pierre castle which houses a museum and the Sarriod de la Tour castle. You can also see a third one in ruins. At "La Grolla", a centre for the production of wooden handicrafts and the famous "grolla": a kind of wine flute made of precious wood, with a lid, supported by a short stem on a wide base. Lower, more rustic and rounder, it is also called the Friendship Cup. It was passed around during festivities.
