A former tin mine dating back to colonial times, when the Plateau State was world-renowned for its tin mining, the site was abandoned in the 1970s and then redeveloped as a resort on the outskirts of Jos. The mining pit has been transformed into a large artificial lake where locals gather on weekends and public holidays, especially in fine weather, for boat or jet-ski rides. The banks are furnished with picnic tables and huts. Swimming is dangerous and prohibited.
