Place with a remarkable palace in Mulhouse, a veritable jewel of the Rhenish Renaissance, home to the Christmas market.
This has been the heart of Mulhouse since the Middle Ages. This palace is a true jewel of the Rhenish Renaissance. On the pediment, the Klapperstein, a grinning stone mask weighing just a few kilos that slanderous women had to wear on market day. Next door, the St. Stephen's temple, which took ten years to build, starting in 1858. Behind the temple stands a column, built to honor the memory of the scientist Jean-Henri Lambert. For Mulhousians, this "village square" is the site of the annual Christmas market.
