LA MINA DE DESGUÀS
Since the late Middle Ages, the monks of the monastery have sought to channel the water from the pond through the construction of an irrigation system. Documented records from 1554 indicate that this network was maintained in order to improve the use of agricultural land. Later, between 1734 and 1737, a dry stone drainage mine was built, taking advantage of the alignment of the canals already in place but increasing the angle of the slope, allowing for a more abundant drainage of the pond water and its drying out. Three centuries later, the mine retained its function: to prevent water from stagnating and circulating to prevent the formation of the pond. Its 425 metres of dry stone and mortar-free pipe make it a remarkable work of hydraulic engineering.
