The centre of the Sierra Madre's activities is the village of La Ciudad (sometimes simply referred to by the name of its natural park, Mexiquillo), an extensive village dedicated to the (sometimes abusive) exploitation of wood; around it, it is a bit like the kingdom of tourism dedicated to nature: omnipresent, wild and magnificent. On the programme: watchtowers overlooking deep canyons, old railway tunnels (which have never hosted a train due to the construction of the road), waterfalls, walks, bicycle rides and above all a large bowl of fresh air. Visiting the area during the rainy season (July to October) allows you to walk sometimes above the clouds, immersed in a small enchanting fog. The rest of the year, the scents of pine trees are also omnipresent.
