LUTSEN MOUNTAINS

Three miles from Lutsen is the largest ski area in the American Midwest. Lutsen Mountains has ninety-five trails for all levels. It encompasses four mountains: Eagle Mountain, Ullr Mountain, Mystery Mountain and Moose Mountain, the largest of which offers spectacular views of Lake Superior. The ski season is longer than at most Midwestern resorts: it starts in November and usually ends in mid-April. In summer, the area is ideal for hiking.
